Bridgeport, Pa. – (September 21, 2022) - The Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) announced its weekly awards on Wednesday with Fordham's
George Papanikolaou (Athens, Greece) selected as the league's Player of the Week.
Papanikolaou helped #17 Fordham to a perfect 4-0 record at the Bison Invitational this past weekend. He totaled 10 goals, 12 assists, five steals and two blocks over four matches. He opened the weekend with three goals and five assists in a win over Mt. St. Mary's and followed with three goals and an assist in a win at Bucknell.
On Sunday, Papanikolaou dished out four assists with two steals in a win over Wagner, while scoring four times to go with two assists and two steals in a win over Salem.
Papanikolaou and the rest of the Fordham water polo team will now head west for the MPSF Invitational, September 23-25, hosted at Stanford University. The Rams open play on Friday at 7:40 PM against #5 USC.
