#5 Water Polo Stays Unbeaten in MAWPC with Two Wins

Rams Roll Past Navy & #20 George Washington on Saturday

Bronx, N.Y. – (October 11, 2025) – It was "Showdown Saturday" between the three unbeaten teams in the MAWPC with #5 Fordham taking on both #20 George Washington and Navy.  The Rams ended up on top at the end of the day, defeating both the Midshipmen and the Revolutionaries by scores of 20-14 and 16-14, respectively.
 
Fordham is now 13-1 on the season, 6-0 in the MAWPC.
 
GAME ONE - #5 Fordham 20, Navy 14
  • The Rams opened with a big offensive quarter, scoring eight times in the first period for an 8-4 lead.Andras Toth scored a first quarter hat trick with Alessandro Salipante having two markers.
  • Fordham increased the lead to 11-5 by halftime.
  • The team played even in the second half with each team scoring nine times for the 20-14 final score.
  • Salipante had a breakout performance with a season-high seven goals on nine shots, while Toth had five goals, three assists, and three steals.
  • Luca Provenziani added a hat trick and six assists with Luca Silvestri adding two goals.
  • Matthew Bonello DuPuis notched nine saves, including a penalty block, in goal for the Rams.
 
GAME TWO - #5 Fordham 16, #20 George Washington 14
  • Fordham jetted out to a big lead in the first quarter, scoring the first five goals of the match, which included a hat trick by Provenziani.
  • The Rams saw their lead move to 11-6 in the third quarter before the Revolutionaries netted five straight goals, tying the game at 11 with 6:54 left in the fourth quarter.
  • After trading goals, Toth scored at the 3:03 mark to give the lead back to Fordham at 13-12.He then recorded a steal and drew an exclusion on the next play.Marco Napolitano capitalized on the man-advantage to make it 14-12.
  • The teams traded goals again, but Kristof Magony kept the momentum in Fordham's favor, making a save on recording an assist on a fast break goal by Toth with 1:28 left to put the finishing touch on another win.
  • Provenziani led the offense with five goals and four assists, while Toth and Napolitano each had hat tricks.
  • Magony ended up with eight saves, two assists, and a steal in goal for Fordham.
 
WHO'S NEXT
  • The Rams are in action on Tuesday, October 21st, as the team begins its west coast swing at Long Beach State.
