Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham volleyball unveiled its 2022 season on Wednesday afternoon. The Rams will play in four preseason multi-school competitions, including the 19
th Rose Hill Classic, and 29 total matches in the regular season. The Atlantic 10 has instituted an 18-match conference slate consisting of matches on back-to-back days against the same league foe this season, which includes the introduction of Loyola Chicago as the conference's newest member. All times below are Eastern Standard, although not every match has an official start time yet. Head to the schedule page via the menu above.
The Rams will kick off the 2022 season at nearby Stony Brook, taking on Quinnipiac on neutral ground in the season opener on Saturday, August 27
th. The next day, the Rams will take on the Seawolves. Both matches are set for 1 p.m. On Wednesday, August 31
st, Fordham will travel to play nearby St. Francis Brooklyn in a one-off match at 4 p.m.
The following weekend, September 2-3, will be the 19
th iteration of the Rose Hill Classic, featuring Fairleigh Dickinson, Niagara, and Penn. The Rams will kick things off against the Knights on Friday at 11 a.m. and play the Purple Eagles in the nightcap at 6 p.m. The next day, Fordham will play in the middle match against the Quakers at 2 p.m.
Two more preseason events follow over the ensuing two weekends, first at North Dakota where Fordham will play the hosts, Coppin State, and Montana State on September 9-10. The Rams will round out preseason play at Yale on September 16-17 against Sacred Heart, Villanova, and the hosts.
In a rematch of the 2021 A-10 Championship, champions Dayton will come to the Rose Hill Gym for matches on Friday, September 23
rd, at 6 p.m. and on Saturday at 2 p.m to kick off league action. Aside from one series, a home and away on separate Wednesdays against Rhode Island, every weekend two-match series will take place on a Friday and Saturday.
The weekend the calendar turns from September to October, the Rams will travel to Loyola Chicago to play the Ramblers for the first time in their history, playing at 6 p.m. and 2 p.m. the two days. In midweek on October 5
th, Fordham will travel to Rhode Island for a 5 p.m. one-off before returning to host VCU in a rematch of last year's semifinals. Friday, October 7
th, will be the team's annual Breast Cancer Awareness match.
The following weekend begins a stretch of three straight road trips, first at George Washington on October 14-15, then Davidson on October 21-22, and finally at Duquesne on October 28-29. Luckily, that'll be the last time on the road for the regular season as Fordham will then host Rhode Island on Wednesday, November 2
nd, at 5 p.m. and then Saint Louis and George Mason the next two weekends.
Fordham is coming off a historic 2021 campaign that saw the program's first-ever run to the Atlantic 10 Championship match. The Rams earned the sixth and final seed in the postseason and defeated Saint Louis in five sets and VCU in four to set up a date with defending champion Dayton. Fordham finished the year 10-20 overall and 5-11 in conference action.
The Rams return four of six starters from a year ago and welcome five new faces to the program.
