Women’s Track & Field Takes Eighth at Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship

Fordham’s Kyla Hill Medals Twice Individually & Gets Third with the 4x100 Relay

Richmond, Va. – (May 8, 2022) – The 2022 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship began on Saturday at SportsBackers Stadium in Richmond, Virginia.
 
Massachusetts held on for the women's team championship with 123.5 points, just ahead of VCU with 120 points.  Dayton was third with 96.5 points, followed by Richmond (94), George Mason (79), Rhode Island (67.5), Davidson (63), Fordham (45), Duquesne (42.5), La Salle (42), George Washington (29), Saint Louis (29), Saint Joseph's (27), and St. Bonaventure (0).
 
Fordham added to its medal count early on Sunday, taking bronze in the 4x100 relay, as Sarah Galvin, Kathryn Kelly, Dominique Valentine, and Kyla Hill finished third in 47.72 seconds.
 
Hill then continued the medal push, earning a bronze in the 100-meter dash in 11.86 seconds, while teammate Kelly scored eighth in 12.25 seconds.
 
Hill wasn't finished, as in the 200-meter dash, she just edged VCU's Lauryn Taylor by .005, to take silver and Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in 24.122 seconds.
 
Fordham scored in two other events on Sunday, starting with Tiffany Hanna in the discus throw, as she posted 137' 9", good for seventh overall, while Amanda Gurth was 14th in 105' 2".  The duo also took part in the shotput event, as Hanna was tenth overall (39' 1 ¾") with Gurth in 18th (35' 6 ½").

The Rams' final scoring event was the 4x800 relay, as Bridget Alex, Jilli Jones, Helen Connolly, and Taylor Mascetta scored eighth in 9:36.60.
 
For the remaining events, Fordham had competitors in the 1,500- and 5,000-meter runs, the 4x400 relay, and the triple jump.
 
In the 1,500 meters, Alex was the top performer in 16th place at 4:52.18, followed by Alexandra Thomas in 17th (4:52.26) and Nicoleta Papavasilakis in 26th (5:06.39).  Then in the 5,000 meters, Germaine Harbaugh just missed the scoring column in ninth place at 17:33.48.
 
Jade Dyer-Kennedy took part in the triple jump event, finishing 16th overall in 36' ¾", while the last event was the 4x400 relay, where Kelly, Valentine, Mary Kathryn Underwood, and Hill were tenth in 3:59.35.
 
The Rams will next be in action on May 13-15, as select team members will compete at the 2022 IC4A Championship, held at Zable Stadium in Williamsburg, Virginia.
