Men’s Track & Field in Tenth at Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship

Brandon Hall & Justin Rhee Score on Day One for the Rams

Richmond, Va. – (May 7, 2022) – The 2022 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship began on Saturday at SportsBackers Stadium in Richmond, Virginia.
 
After day one and six events completed, Rhode Island has the lead in the men's team scoring with 59.5 points.  George Mason is in second at 48 points, followed by Massachusetts (29), VCU (25), George Washington (20), La Salle (16), Saint Joseph's (11.5), Saint Louis (10), Davidson (9), Fordham (3), Duquesne (0), and St. Bonaventure (0).
 
Fordham scored in two events on Saturday, while qualifying for one Sunday final.
 
In the field events, Justin Rhee tied for seventh in the long jump, posting a season-best mark of 22' 5 ¾", while teammate Eric Galante was 10th with a jump of 22' 3".  Alec Wargo was the other field competitor for the Rams, placing 13th in the hammer throw with a distance of 144' 1".
 
Fordham's other scorer beside Rhee was Brandon Hall in the final event on Saturday, the 10,000-meter run.  He scored seventh with a time of 31:01.94, while Steven Zucca just missed the scoring column in ninth at 31:16.67.

In the Saturday trials, Jeremiah LaDuca qualified for the Sunday final in the 800 meters, as he won his heat in 1:56.95.  Zalen Nelson just missed the final in ninth at 1:55.28, while Christopher Strzelinski was 14th (1:56.97) with Eric Jacobson in 25th (1:58.31).
 
In the remaining events, Antony Misko was the top Ram in the 400-mter dash, taking 12th in 50.43 seconds, while Patrick Tuohy was 15th (51.07), Isaiah James in 18th (51.36), and Erik Brown in 19th (51.97).
 
Then, Robert LeFevre was Fordham's best in the 100- and 200-meter dash.  He clocked in at 11.09 seconds in the 100 meters (17th) and 22.78 in the 200 meters (19th).  Additionally, Michael Capone was 19th in the 100 meters (11.13), while Manuel Alfonso Guzman was 20th (11.26).
 
The final Saturday events were the 400-meter hurdles and the 3,000-meter steeplechase.  Chase Krug registered a time of 1:01.36 in the hurdles, good for 17th overall.  Nathan Bezuneh was then 10th in the steeplechase in 9:56.63 with Justin Lombardi in 11th (10:00.59).
 
The Championship concludes on Sunday with 15 event finals.
