Williamsburg, Va. – (May 14, 2022) – Following their showing at the Atlantic 10 Championship, the Fordham track & field team started the third leg of its outdoor championship season, as the Rams are at the 2022 ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The Rams got out to a fantastic start on Saturday, as the men are tied for eighth after day one with 15 points, while the women sit in 11
th place with 16 points.
Each team earned a medal on day one, highlighted by
Steven Zucca taking gold in the men's 10,000-meter run in 30:08.32. Fordham then earned silver in the women's long jump, as
Kathryn Kelly grabbed second with a jump of 19' 4 ¾".
The Rams broke one school record on Saturday as well. The women's 4x100 relay team of
Sarah Galvin, Kelly,
Dominique Valentine, and
Kyla Hill placed fourth in the event in a school record time of 46.95 seconds, edging the previous mark of 46.96 set in 2019 by Mary Kate Kenny, Kelly,
Sarinnagh Budris, and Valentine.
Hill also qualified for the Sunday finals in the women's 100-meter dash, as she qualified third in 11.88 seconds.

Fordham scored in two other finals on Saturday, starting in the men's 800-meter run.
Jeremiah LaDuca finished sixth in a season-best time of 1:50.79, followed by
Zalen Nelson in seventh in 1:51.31.
Patrick Tuohy also ran in the 800 meters, placing 34
th in 1:59.37.
Caroline McDonagh was the final scorer on day one, placing sixth in the women's 10,000 meters in 36:35.45.
The Rams also competed in women's 800 meters, both 1,500 meters, both 5,000 meters, and the women's hammer throw.
For the women,
Helen Connolly was 18
th overall in the 800 meters in 2:14.57, while the duo of
Bridget Alex (4:40.02) and
Alexandra Thomas (4:44.40) were 20
th and 25
th, respectively, in the 1,500 meters.
Germaine Harbaugh then grabbed 13
th in the 5,000 meters in 17:32.99, as did
Tiffany Hanna in the hammer throw, posting a mark of 153' 5".
Casey Metzler was also in the hammer throw, finishing 20
th at 133' 3".
For the men,
Colin Flood and
Christopher Strzelinski ran in the 1,500 meters, while
Brandon Hall was in the 5,000 meters. Flood finished 12
th with a season-best time of 3:50.88 with Strzelinski in 31
st at 3:54.79. Hall then ended the day in 18
th place in the 5,000 meters in 14:32.73.
The Championship concludes on Sunday.
