Stony Brook, N.Y. – (March 19, 2022) – The Fordham track & field squad opened its outdoor season on Saturday afternoon at the Stony Brook Snowflake Classic.
With a limited number of events, the clear highlight of the day came from newcomer
Tiffany Hanna, a graduate student transfer from Wagner. In her debut meet, she won the shot put event with a school record throw of 41' 4 ½", besting the previous record of 39' 4 ½" by Jeana Fletcher in 2009. The Rams also placed third and fourth in the event with
Amanda Gurth (36' 7 ¾") and
Casey Metzler (33' 4 ¾"), respectively.
Fordham also had event wins in both the men's and women's 800 meters, as the Rams had 1-2-3 finishes in each event.
Molly Mulvaney won the women's 800 in 2:25.54, followed by
Angelica Piccini in second (2:26.55) and
Dominique Valentine in third (2:29.67), while
Antony Misko grabbed first in the men's 800 meters in 1:57.87 with
Jack Reilly in second (2:00.36) and
Justin Lombardi in third (2:00.95).

In the 200-meter dash,
Kaley Bell was the top finisher for the women in 8
th place (29.09), while
Eric Galante grabbed eighth on the men's side in 24.37 seconds.
The 1,500-meter dash saw
Alexandra Thomas as the top women's performer, taking third place in 4:53.65 with
Mary Kathryn Underwood in fourth (4:56.90), while on the men's side,
Samuel Wilcox took fourth in 4:10.07.
The 3,000-meter run had a pair of third place finishes by
Nathania Tan (10:58.76) and
Colin Flood (8:44.23) with
Taylor Mascetta grabbing fourth in 11:08.76.
The top performers in the remaining events, which were all men's events, were
Robert LeFevre in the 400 meters (6
th – 53.62),
Justin Rhee in the long jump (3
rd – 21' 11"), and
Alec Wargo in the shot put (2
nd – 37' 4").
The Rams are next in action on at the Rider Invitational in Lawrenceville, N.J., on March 26
th.
