Staten Island, N.Y. – (February 4, 2022) – The Fordham men's track & field team tied its best-ever finish at the Metropolitan Indoor Track & Field Championship on Friday, placing second in the team standings. Previously, the Rams finished second at both the 2019 and 2020 Championships.
The Rams recorded 105 points on the day to place second behind only Manhattan with 111 points and ahead Fairleigh Dickinson (101), NJIT (81), Saint Peter's (64), LIU (57), St. Francis Brooklyn (56), Ramapo (46), and Wagner (25).
The day was highlighted with four event wins, which began with
Brandon Hall taking first in the 5,000-meter run in a season-best time of 14:42.41.
Then in the 1000 meters,
Jeremiah LaDuca paced the field by winning the event in 2:26.35, followed by
Patrick Tuohy in second (2:30.14),
Rodolfo Sanchez in third (2:30.30), and
Nolan Chiles in sixth (2:37.95).

The remaining event wins came in the distance medley and 4x800 relays. The DMR saw
Nathan Bezuneh,
Justin Lombardi,
Daniel Asher, and
Colin Flood place first in a season-best time of 10:27.64, while the 4x800 relay of Sanchez, Tuohy,
Erik Brown, and LaDuca won the event in a season-best time of 7:51.43.
The remaining points for the Rams came from three field events and seven running events.
Justin Rhee scored in both the long jump and triple jump events, posting a mark of 21' 7 ½" in the long jump and 44' 4 ¼" (season-best) in the triple jump, both of which were good for fourth place.
Alec Wargo then registered a fifth-place finish in the weight throw with a season-best mark of 48' 2 ½".

The running event scoring started in the 60-meter dash, where
Kenneth Maxwell took fifth in a season-best time of 7.06 seconds. Asher was then second in the mile run in 4:17.74, followed by Bezuneh in third (4:18.95) and
Samuel Wilcox in seventh (4:23.86).
Antony Misko grabbed eighth overall in the 400 meters in a season-best time of 50.78 seconds with Brown finishing third in the 500 meters in a season-best time of 1:05.50.
Next up was the 800 meters, where Lombardi ended up seventh in 1:58.29, while
Ryan Fahey was eighth in the 3,000 meters in 9:18.46.
The last event to score was the 4x400 relay, as Misko,
Isaiah James,
Eric Jacobson, and Wilcox were fifth in 3:25.90.
Next up for the Rams will be
Zalen Nelson running in the 800 meters at the Dr. Norbert Sander Columbia Challenge on Saturday, February 5
th, while the team will next be in action on February 11
th as the Rams will split up to compete at the BU Valentine Invitational on Boston and the Rutgers Indoor Invitational in New York.
