Boston, Mass. – (February 12, 2022) – A busy weekend for the Fordham track & field team continued on Saturday, as the Rams split the team between the Rutgers Invitational at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York and the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston.
For the Rams competing on day two of the BU Valentine Invitational, it was primarily just men's events, except for the women's distance medley relay. In that relay, Fordham's team of Taylor Mascetta, Jilli Jones, Helen Connolly, and Bridget Alex finished ninth in an ECAC qualifying time of 12:01.09.
The men then took center stage with four new IC4A qualifying times, which began with
Steven Zucca taking fifth in the unseeded 5,000-meter run in an IC4A qualifying and season-best time of 14:42.37.
In the mile run, Roldofo Sanchez, who had already qualified for the IC4As, bettered his season-best time of 4:11.94 (99
th overall), while
Daniel Asher also posted an IC4A qualifier with a time of 4:14.38 (126
th).

The 800-meter run also saw a strong showing from the Rams, as
Jeremiah LaDuca qualified for the IC4A Championship by finishing 19
th overall in a season-best time of 1:50.40, followed by
Zalen Nelson in 29
th in 1:51.66. Other Rams in the 800 were
Eric Jacobson (98
th – 1:56.00),
Patrick Tuohy (104
th – 1:56.24), and
Samuel Wilcox (123
rd – 1:57.19).
The last of the IC4A qualifiers was
Brandon Hall, as he improved his 3,000-meter time in the seeded event to 8:18.52, good for 77
th overall. In the unseeded 3,000 meters, Fordham's
Nathan Bezuneh posted his best time of the season at 8:32.70, which was 26
th, while
Colin Flood came in at 8:35.16 (35
th).
Other Rams in action on Saturday were led by
Antony Misko, who ran a season-best time of 49.54 seconds in the 400 meters (56
th), while the duo of
Robert LeFevre and
Kenneth Maxwell competed in the 60 and 200-meter dashes. Maxwell was 12
th in the 60 meters (7.20) and 86
th in the 200 meters (22.62), while LeFevre took 13
th in the 60 meters (7.21) and 97
th in the 200 meters (22.75).
Lastly for the Rams was
Andrew Ramsammy, who tied for 12
th overall in the high jump, clearing 6' 1 ¼".
The Rams now set their sights on the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship, which will be held February 26-27, at the George Mason Fieldhouse in Fairfax, Virginia.
