Swimming & Diving Continues Hot Start at Marist

Women Post 192-89 Win over Red Foxes, while Men Edge Marist, 140-136

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – (October 22, 2022) – The Fordham swimming & diving team kept its good start to the season rolling on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Marist Red Foxes in their dual meet in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
 
The Fordham women continued their dominance with a 192-89 win, while for the second straight night it came down to the final race for the men, as they won 140-136.
 
For the men, it was the 400 freestyle relay team of Alex Shah, Alex Wilhelm, Taras Zherebetskyy, and Paris Raptis securing the team win, by taking the event in 3:06.41.
 
The relay win capped a big day for Raptis, who won three individual events on the day, including the 100 breaststroke (58.46), 200 individual medley (1:57.39), and the 200 butterfly (1:54.05).  Christian Taylor was also a multi-event winner, as he competed for the first time this season.  He won the 100 (50.10) and 200 (1:54.21) backstroke events.
 
Rounding out the event wins for the Rams were Daniel Langlois in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.92) and Zherebetskyy in the 100 butterfly (50.76).
 
On the women's side, Fordham totaled 14 event wins, led by Jessica Zebrowski with three individual wins, as well as a relay event.  She won the 100 (56.60) and 200 (2:08.29) butterfly and added the 50 freestyle to her ledger (24.59).  Additionally, Zebrowski joined Zoei Howard, Megan Morris, and Alison Lin to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:34.56.
 
Lin would also win multiple events on Saturday, taking first in the 100 backstroke (59.04) and 200 individual medley (2:07.66).  Also winning multiple events for the Rams were Millie Haffety, as she swept the diving events (1M – 267.90; 3M – 302.18), and Emilie Krog, who swept the distance freestyle events (500 – 5:09.24; 1000 – 10:39.02).
 
Four other Rams earned first place finishes, which included Emma Shaughnessy (100 breaststroke – 1:04.75), Clare Culver (200 freestyle – 1:56.42), Leire Martin (200 backstroke – 2:05.88), and Ainhoa Martin (200 breaststroke – 2:18.66).RamsesChallengeSW2
 
The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, November 5th, when they host Georgetown for a 1:00 PM meet.
