Bronx, N.Y. – (October 22, 2021) – The Fordham swimming & diving team closed out a busy week with its second meet in less than 24 hours as the Rams swept the meet with the Monmouth Hawks at the Messmore Aquatic Center on Friday afternoon.
The Fordham women posted a 176-96 win over the Hawks, while the men came away with a 169-111 victory.
In the women's competition, Fordham took first in both relays, while winning 11 of the 14 individual events. Leading the way, the Rams had a trio of multi-event winners in
Clare Culver,
Natalie Ortof, and
Ainhoa Martin. Culver won both distance freestyle events, posting times of 10:39.08 in the 1000 freestyle and 5:12.51 in the 500 freestyle, while Ortof qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Regional with winning scores of 268.65 (1M) and 272.20 (3M). Martin was the last multi-event winner, taking first in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.41) and the 400 individual medley (4:24.57).
Other individual to win an event on Friday were
Audrey Tirrell in the 200 freestyle (1:57.21),
Alison Lin in the 100 backstroke (58.44),
Becky Kamau in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.14),
Jessica Zebrowski in the 200 butterfly (2:08.39), and
Victoria Navarro in the 100 butterfly (57.27).
In the relay, the 400 medley relay team of
Leire Martin, Kamau, Navarro, and
Madeline Bergin placed first in 3:56.15, while the 200 freesytle relay group of Navarro, Bergin Zebrowski, and
Kiara Norris won in a time of 1:38.53.

In the men's competition, Fordham won both relays and took the top spot in nine individual events. The Rams had a pair of multi-event winners, as
Daniel Langlois won the 200 breaststroke in 2:12.43 and the 400 individual medley in 4:13.56, while
Diego Perez swept the diving with scores of 236.25 (1M) and 198.60 (3M).
Other event wins came from
Nathan Nguyen in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.43),
Ethan Murray in the 200 butterfly (1:54.88),
Alexander Shah in the 50 freestyle (22.00),
Spencer Clarke in the 100 freestyle (47.41), and
Vitalis Onu in the 100 butterfly (51.02).
In the relays, the 400 medley relay of
Alex Wilhelm, Langlois, Onu, and
Nicholas Chao won in a time of 3:29.21, while the 200 freestyle relay of Onu, Shah, Clarke, and Chao won in 1:26.06.
The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, November 6
th, when the team host Georgetown for a 1:00 PM meet at the Messmore Aquatic Center.
