Boston, Mass. – (March 1, 2020) – In an incredible championship final, the Fordham squash team outlasted Hobart College, 5-4, to capture its second consecutive Chaffee Cup at the 2020 CSA Team Championship in Boston.
Playing the final at Harvard, Fordham got out of the gates quick with a 2-1 edge through the first three matches.
Bruce Czachor completed a perfect 3-0 record at the Championship, defeating Cameron Temoyan at the fifth slot, 11-8, 12-10, and 11-7, to get things started.
Jacob Bennett then made his first appearance in the Championship and made it count, topping Jeffrey Wan at the ninth slot, 14-12, 11-2, and 11-4.
The Rams earned their third point with an eighth slot win by
Dylan Panichello in three games over Charlie Beall, 11-9, 11-4, and 11-7. Like Czachor, Panichello also finished the Championship with a 3-0 record.

Fordham then got a huge comeback win from
Griffin Fitzgerald, as he picked up his third win of the weekend. Fitzgerald trailed two games to one in his fourth position match against James Mazzarelli, but rallied to win game four and five to take home the match win, 11-9, 6-11, 7-11, 15-13, and 11-0.
Hobart though battled back, taking the first, second, third, and seventh slots to knot the match at four all. The Championship would be decided in the final match between
Winthrop Reed IV and Eric Molina. It was a seesaw affair, alternating game wins, and forcing a fifth and final game. Molina would build up a 9-6 lead on Reed, but Reed rallied for the final five points to win the match and the championship, 13-11, 7-11, 11-2, 3-11, and 11-9.
The Rams ended the year with a final record of 21-9 on the year, the team's third straight 20-win campaign.
