Philadelphia, Pa. – (February 28, 2025) – The Fordham squash team opened play at the 2025 CSA Team Divisional Championship on Friday, which is being held at the Arlen Specter U.S. Squash Center in Philadelphia.
The Rams opened round robin play with a 9-0 loss to Haverford.
Five of the matches were three-game sweeps for Haverford, while the remaining finished in four games.
At first position, Fordham's
Nicholas Gilman took the opening game from Noah Tunis, but Tunis rallied to win the next three games to take the match, 7-11, 11-1, 11-8, and 11-5.
Charlie Friedman also started his sixth slot match with a win in game one against Qianzhi Zhao, but Zhao rallied to win in four, 9-11, 11-7, 11-5, and 11-6. In the ninth slot, it was the same story for
Crispin McCarthy against Arvin Krishnan, falling 9-11, 11-5, 11-8, and 11-3.
The last match to go four was at third position, as Kai Thomas Schinaman defeated
Jack Stanley, 11-5, 11-9, 11-13, and 11-9.
In match two of the day, Fordham fell to Vassar, 6-3.
Fordham got a win at fifth position to open the match tied at one, as
Robert Cruikshank defeated Razaan Lalji in four games, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7, and 12-10.
Vassar though would take five of the next six match-ups to earn the team win. The lone win in that stretch came from Gilman at the top slot against Konsta Georgallides in five games, 6-11, 11-9, 12-10, 8-11, and 12-10.
The final Ram victory came from
Jack Stanley at third position, as he took down Kyle Benson in four games, 3-11, 12-10, 11-4, and 12-10.
Fordham finishes up at the CSA Team Divisional Championship on Saturday, March 1
st with a 6:00 PM match against Bard.
