Women’s Track & Field Opens Action at A-10 Championship

Kathryn Kelly Takes Bronze in Long Jump and Sets School Record in 60 Meters; Dooley Scores in Pole Vault

Kingston, R.I. – (February 29, 2020) – The 2020 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship got underway on Saturday with six women's events taking place as well as preliminaries for a number of track events.
 
George Mason leads the women's team standings with 40 points, followed by Massachusetts (37), Dayton (31), Rhode Island (21), Richmond (21), VCU (20), Davidson (16), George Washington (15), Duquesne (10), La Salle (10), Fordham (7), Saint Louis (6), and Saint Joseph's.
 
Highlighting the first day of action for Fordham was Kathryn Kelly, who took bronze in the long jump with a season-best mark of 18' 11 ¾".  She also qualified for two Sunday finals in the 60 meter dash (7.61) and the 200 meter dash (24.83).  Her time of 7.61 seconds in the 60 meter dash, broke her own school record of 7.66 in the event.
 
Fordham also scored in the pole vault, as Radha Dooley placed eighth overall, clearing 10' 0".

In addition to Kelly, Fordham had two other qualifiers for Sunday's finals.  Sarrinagh Budris qualified seventh in the 500 meters in 1:16.83, while Helen Connolly qualified eighth in the 800 meter run in 2:18.15.
 
Sydney Snow just missed qualifying in the 1000 meters, placing tenth in 3:00.94, while Taylor Mascetta was 17th in 3:03.58.
 
Other track competitors on Saturday included Gabrielle Schreib in the 400 meters (14th – 1:02.11), Dominique Valentine (13th – 1:19.42) and Mary Kathryn Underwood (20th – 1:21.45) in the 500 meters, Kyla Hill in the 60 meters (18th – 7.89) and 200 meters (15th - 25.92), and Germaine Harbaugh in the 5,000 meters (27th – 18:47.69).
 
Aside from Kelly and Dooley in the field events, Jade Dyer-Kennedy (26th – 14' 8 ½") and Mary Kate Caucci (27th – 14' 4") took part in the long jump, while Casey Metzler was 19th in the weight throw with a distance of 45' 4 ½".
 
In relay action, the women's distance medley relay team of Snow, Valentine, Jilli Jones, and Bridget Alex placed 11th in 12:32.40.

The Championship concludes on Sunday with events starting at 11:00 AM.
