Geneva, Ohio – (February 21, 2020) – The Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship has concluded its third day of competition at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

The women's competition got a little tighter heading into the final day, as three teams are within 50 points of each other for the top spot.  George Washington remains the leader with 424 points with Duquesne in second at 390 points and Fordham with 374 points.  Richmond is in fourth with 318.5 points, followed by Davidson (303), St. Bonaventure (202.5), Massachusetts (175), George Mason (163), La Salle (135), Saint Louis (99), and Rhode Island (62).

Fordham had 11 individual finalists on day three, which began in the 400 individual medley event.  Vaula Vekkeli scored eighth in the "A" final in 4:23.47, while Alison Lin was 14th in 4:25.77.

A historic moment for the Rams then happened in the 100 butterfly event.  The Rams swept the podium, earning gold, silver, and bronze in the same event for the first time in team history.  Amelia Bullock was the Atlantic 10 champion with a gold medal time of 53.03 seconds, breaking her own school record of 53.20 in 2018, and setting a new A-10 record.  Michelle Martin grabbed the silver in 53.96 seconds with Hannah McGee earning the bronze in 54.50 seconds.  In addition, Fordham did have a fourth swimmer in the "A" final, as Kiara Norris scored eighth overall in 55.41 seconds.

Next up was the 200 freestyle event, where Clare Culver and Paulina Watson made the "A" final.  Culver just missed the podium in fourth place with a season-best time of 1:49.38, while Watson was seventh in 1:50.06.

Bullock then pulled double duty individually, medaling for the second time on Friday in the 100 breaststroke.  She clocked in with a season-best and NCAA "B" qualifying time of 1:01.65, good for third place and a bronze medal.

The Rams had two more finalists in Naima Mackrel and Natalie Ortof.  First, Mackrel scored 11th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.14.  Then, Ortof made the "A" final of the three-meter dive competition, placing sixth overall with a score of 251.40.

Day three of the Championship then ended the same way day two did with Fordham atop the podium in the final relay of the night.  The Rams' team of Martin, Bullock, McGee, and Theresa Mullen won gold in a school record time of 3:40.20, which also tied the Atlantic 10 record.  The previous Fordham record was 3:42.86, set in 2010.

The Championship wraps up on Saturday with preliminaries starting at 10:00 AM.
