Geneva, Ohio – (February 19, 2020) – The 2020 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship got underway on Wednesday night at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
After day one for the women, Fordham is seventh out of 11 teams with 62 points. George Washington leads with 106 points through three events, followed by Duquesne (94), Massachusetts (77), Richmond (73), Davidson (67), St. Bonaventure (64), Fordham, George Mason (57), Saint Louis (40), La Salle (36), and Rhode Island (27).
The Championship began with the 200 medley relay, where the Rams' team of
Michelle Martin,
Amelia Bullock,
Hannah McGee, and
Theresa Mullen placed fourth in a season-best time of 1:41.02.
Next were the finals of the women's one-meter dive, where
Natalie Ortof scored 13
th in the "B" final with a score of 229.30.
Stephanie Kerkeles finished 20
th overall at 208.60, while
Molly Dunn was 23
rd at 198.00.
The final women's event on day one was the 800 freestyle relay, where Fordham's team of
Paulina Watson,
Caitlin McNary,
Vaula Vekkeli, and
Clare Culver clocked in at a season-best 7:22.12, good for fifth place.

In the men's competition, George Washington and George Mason are tied for first after two events with 74 points, followed by La Salle (62), Massachusetts (56), Davidson (54), St. Bonaventure (54), Saint Louis (54), and Fordham (44).
The first event was the 200 medley relay, where the Rams' team of
Spencer Clarke,
Patrick Wilson,
Casey Sawyer, and
Kevin Berry placed eighth in a season-best time of 1:30.11.
Then in the 800 freestyle relay,
Josh Stegen,
Christopher Sleutjes,
Ethan Murray, and Clarke finished eighth in a season-best time of 6:43.94.
The Championship continues with day two of action starting at 10:00 AM on Thursday.
