Boston, Mass. – (February 14, 2020) – The Fordham track & field team is back in Boston this weekend at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted at the BU Track & Tennis Center. Day one of the Invitational saw the women take center stage, as the Rams competed in ten events.
Kathryn Kelly led the way with a pair of top ten finishes on Friday. She placed fifth in the 60 meter dash Invitational in a time of 7.76 seconds, while grabbing ninth in the long jump with a mark of 18' 2 ½".
Sydney Snow
Alexandra Thomas and
Radha Dooley also had strong performances for the Rams. Thomas qualified for the ECAC Championship in the 3,000 meter run, finishing 14
th overall in 9:54.24, while Dooley tied for 16
th in the high jump, clearing a season-best 5' 3".
Other performers on Friday included
Jilli Jones and
Mary Kathryn Underwood in the 800 meters, posting times of 2:19.44 (125
th) and 2:29.97 (224
th), respectively, while
Gabrielle Schreib clocked in at 1:01.13 (143
rd) in the 400 meter dash.
Dominique Valentine had a nice showing in the 500 meters, placing 36
th overall in 1:19.03, while in the 200 meter dash,
Kyla Hill and
Ruby Avila posted times of 25.54 (65
th) and 27.26 (230
th) seconds.
Helen Connolly ran in the 1,000 meters, registering a time of 3:06.57, good for 71
st overall.
The Rams finished the night with a quartet of runners in the mile run, led by
Sydney Snow's time of 5:10.15 (134
th).
Taylor Mascetta was right behind her in 5:10.21 (135
th), followed by
Bridget Alex in 5:11.56 (140
th) and
Nicoleta Papavasilakis in 5:29.49 (227
th).
The Valentine Invitational continues on Saturday with the men's events.
