Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham University junior Arina Taluyenko and freshman Weronika Pociej were named Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the conference office today. It is the second straight week Taluyenko has been named player of the week while it's the first weekly award for Pociej.
 
Taluyenko was a perfect 2-0 at first singles in Fordham's two matches on the week and 1-0 at first doubles. She started the weekend with a come from behind 5-7, 7-5, 6-0 win over Stony Brook's Jamie Wei as the Rams defeated the Seawolves, 4-3. Taluyenko teamed with Pociej to win at first doubles in the match, a 6-4 decision over Wei and Nolwenn Cardoso.
 
In the second match of the week, Taluyenko defeated Army's Ana Joyner in straight sets at first singles, 6-1, 6-3, in a 4-3 Fordham loss.
 
Pociej was also perfect on the week, going 2-0 at third singles and 1-0 at first doubles. Against Stony Brook she upended Maria Pinto Ribeiro in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, and then defeated Paola Bou of Army, 7-5, 6-3. She also teamed with Taluyenko to win at first doubles in the Army match.
 
The Rams return to action on Wednesday, February 12, as they travel to Philadelphia to take on Temple University at 11:15 A.M.
