West Point, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis squad continued its fall season this past weekend at the Army Invitational where the duo of
Valeriya Deminova and
Avery Aude won the A Doubles competition and
Nicole Li and
Genevieve Quenville advanced to the semifinals at B Doubles.

Deminova and Aude opened play with a 6-3 win over Seton Hall's Regina Pitts and Minja Gligic and then defeated Binghamton's Michelle Eisenberg and Samara Eisenberg, 6-0. In the quarterfinals, the Fordham teammates upended Army's Hannah Boubel and Sasha Inchauset, 6-3, to advance to the semifinals where they picked up a 6-2 win over Air Force's Nadeen Lieberman and Ashleigh Harvey. In the finals, Deminova and Aude won when Syracuse's Sofya Tresgcheva and Kim Hansen had to withdraw due to injury.

In B Doubles, Li and Quenville opened play with a 6-1 win over Bryant's Megan Tan and Aleksi Gottlieb and then defeated St. Francis' Jean-Na Koo and Gayathri Rajesh, 6-0. In the quarterfinals, Li and Quenville knocked off top-seeded Veluvolu and Fuentes of Air Force, 6-3, but their run ended in the semifinals with a 6-2 loss to Air Force's Abby Warren and Sydney Fitch.

In singles play, Deminova, Aude, and
Weronika Pociej competed in the A Flight but all were defeated in their first match. Deminova fell to Drexel's Ghita Benhadi, 6-3, 6-4, while Aude was upended by Drexel's Salma Ziouti, 4-6, 6-3, 10-4, and Pociej lost to NJIT's Joleta Budiman, 6-4, 6-3.

Deminova rebounded in the consolation bracket, defeating FDU's Shreya Gulia (8-0) and Army's Paola Bou (8-4), before dropping an 8-3 decision to Rutgers' Sydney Kaplan in the semifinals.

Pociej defeated Nadia Rajan from URI in her first consolation match, 8-4, before falling to Kaplan in the second, 8-5.

Aude dropped an 8-3 match to NJIT's Mouna Bouzgarrou in her first consolation match.

In B Singles,
Nicole Li and
Rachelle Yang lost in their first matches. Li was upended by Rutgers' Kristiana Zahare, 6-3, 6-1, while Yang was knocked off by Binghamton's Samara Eisenberg, 6-0, 6-4.

In the B Singles consolation, Li fell to Lehigh's Ella Imhof, 8-4, while Yang fell to Bryant's Ada Boru, 8-7(3).

Maia Balce competed in the C Singles bracket, defeated Michal Matson from Seton Hall, 4-6, 6-2, 10-4, before falling to Army's Carolina Vincent, 6-1, 6-1.

The Rams return to action on October 4-6 when they compete at the Hidden Dual at Penn.
