Gio Grassi and
Stephen Georgio have been named assistant strength and conditioning coaches at Fordham University it was announced today by assistant athletic director for athletic performance
Joe Gilfedder.

"We are excited to be able to add two coaches to our staff as talented as
Gio Grassi and
Stephen Georgio," said Gilfedder. "They both have outstanding resumes and experience at Fordham which will greatly benefit all of our student-athletes."

The new strength and conditioning additions will be charged with the design, implementation, and evaluation of sport-specific speed, strength, and conditioning for varsity teams as well as analyzing nutritional habits or student-athletes and educating them on healthy dietary choices. He will also responsible for computer data entry of strength, speed, and conditioning test results, and athlete nutritional analyses.
Grassi, who served as the strength and conditioning intern for the New York Giants in 2017, has been with the Fordham strength and conditioning program since January of 2018.

Grassi served as the strength and conditioning intern for the New York Giants from April of 2017 until August of 2017 where he assisted with the development of the strength and conditioning program and conducted warms up for conditioning and pre-practice sessions.

Since April of 2015 Grassi has also been working as the strength and conditioning coach/ACL Return-to-Sport Program Coordinator at HackensackUMC Fitness and Wellness Powered by the New York Giants. He develops ACL Return-to-Sport exercise programs tailored to the type of ACL surgery, athlete sex and sport.

From June of 2014 until March of 2017, Grassi served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University where he developed strength and conditioning, speed/agility and plyometric programs for all 19 NCAA Division I programs. He also collaboratively established a Bio-Analytics framework to manage athlete fatigue, maximize readiness and minimize injuries by utilizing daily RPE's and Sleep Cycles programs.

Grassi also served as an intern football strength and conditioning coach at Rutgers in the spring of 2017 and as a strength and conditioning coach/NFL Combine Preparatory Coach at the Parisi School from 2010-2015.

A 2009 graduate of Delaware State University where he received a degree in sports science and was a member of the football squad from 2005-2007, Grassi also earned a master's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in sports administration in 2017. He is a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Georgio served as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach for the Rams this summer, working with the football and men's and women's basketball programs.

In 2017-2018 Georgio served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach/adjunct professor at Iona College where he supervised all aspects of strength and conditioning for the women's basketball, track and field/cross country, softball, baseball, women's lacrosse, and women's swimming programs. He traveled with the women's basketball team, conducting pregame warm ups, postgame recovery sessions, and nutrition advice and created the Iona Strength and Conditioning Sports Nutrition social media platforms.

Prior to his stay at Iona, Georgio served as a strength and conditioning coach at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning, leading athlete groups from youth to professional levels through strength and conditioning programs and preparing athletes for collegiate pro days following MBSC protocol.

Georgio also spent the summer of 2016 at The Citadel as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach, assisting the fulltime staff with the summer strength and conditioning program for football and men's basketball.

A 2016 graduate of Springfield College with a degree in Movement on Sports Studies, Georgio earned a master's degree from Merrimack College in 2017 in Exercise and Sports Studies. He is a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach.
