Boston, Mass. – (February 8, 2019) – The Fordham track & field team started their final tune-up for the Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday, as the women's team took part in day one of the 2019 David Hemery Valentine Invitational, held the BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Rams competed in a handful of events, posting one ECAC qualifier and five season-best performances.
Aidan Moroz
The day was highlighted by senior
Aidan Moroz, who posted an ECAC qualifying time of 2:55.63 in the 1000 meter run, which was good for 33
rd overall.
Kathryn Kelly also had a strong day over in the field events, posting a pair of top 20 finishes. She finished 13
th in the long jump with a mark of 17' 9 ½", while posting a season-best mark of 36' 6 ¾" in the triple jump event, good for 18
th overall. She was also a part of the 4x400 relay with Moroz,
Sarinnagh Budris, and
Dana Beggins, which took 15
th overall in a season-best time of 3:52.88.
In addition to the relay, Budris and Beggins, along with
Dominique Valentine, competed in the 800 meter run. Beggins had the top time, clocking in at 2:17.35 (72
nd), followed by Budris in 2:19.04 (82
nd) and Valentine in 2:22.38 (111
th).
The Rams also had a trio of runners in the mile run and the 3000 meter run to wrap up the day.
Katarzyna Krzyzanowski posted the Rams' best time of the season in the mile run at 5:01.52, good for 61
st overall, followed by
Kate McCormack (5:11.29 – 99
th) and
Blake Elwood (5:29.34 – 171
st), while in the 3,000 meters,
Angelina Grebe recorded a season-best time of 9:57.46, good for 64
th, with
Laurel Fisher in 74
th (10:00.53) and
Sydney Snow in 107
th (10:13.48).
The Valentine Invitational finishes up on Saturday with the men's events, beginning at 10:30 AM.
