Geneva, Ohio – (February 23, 2019) – The 2019 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship has come to a close at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, where the Fordham men's swimming & diving finished in eighth place out of eight teams.
Fordham finished with 198 points for the championship, and came up with season-best performances in all six events on Saturday.
The final day of events started with the 1650 freestyle, where Fordham had two swimmers score points.
Danny McGowan was the top finisher, taking 11
th in a season-best time of 16:02.32, while
Christopher Sleutjes was right behind him in 13
th at 16:07.78.
Next was the 200 backstroke, where
Scott Stern made the "B" final, placing 16
th overall in a season-best time of 1:51.93.
Joseph Vizza
In the 100 freestyle,
Joseph Vizza won the "B" final to take ninth overall in a season-best time of 45.08.
Next up was Q Steffen in the 200 breaststroke as he also made the "B" final. He ended up 15
th overall in a season-best time of 2:04.27.
The final individual event was the 200 butterfly, where
Greg Lombana finished 11
th overall in 1:50.28, after setting a season-best mark early in the day at 1:50.06.
The final event of the championship was the 400 freestyle relay, as Vizza,
Travis Monahan,
Spencer Clarke, and
A.J. Frakes took eighth overall in 3:03.26.
