Geneva, Ohio – (February 22, 2019) – Day three of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship has finished at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, and the Fordham women's swimming & diving team had a big day, moving up to third place in the team standings.
Duquesne still leads the tight team standings with 396 points. George Washington is in second, just 17 points back at 379, followed by Fordham at 360.5, 35.5 points back of first.
The Rams started the scoring right away in the first event of the night. Three Rams made the finals of the 400 individual medley with
Jacqueline Dominger making the "A" final with
Bayley Frierson and
Amie Ko in the "B" final. First, Frierson won "B" final for ninth overall in 4:22.68 with Ko taking 16
th in 4:27.01. Dominger then grabbed eighth place in the "A" final in 4:25.90.

Next was the 100 butterfly, where four Rams made the finals. The "B" final saw
Kiara Norris take 11
th in 55.59 seconds, followed by
Hannah McGee in 12
th at 55.79 seconds. Then in the "A" final,
Tara Brunner picked up her third silver medal of the championship, as she was second in 54.11 seconds with
Michelle Martin just missing the podium in fourth at 54.73 seconds.
The 200 freestyle was next as another trio of Rams found the scoring column.
Kysha Marie Altura earned tenth place as a part of the "B" final, clocking in at 1:50.78, while
Caitlin McNary and
Paulina Watson made the "A" final. McNary had a bronze finish in third place at 1:48.86 with Watson placing fifth in 1:49.31.
Milly Furneaux was the lone entrant for the Rams in the 100 breaststroke, and she certainly made it count, winning the event in a school record and NCAA "B" cut time of 1:01.37. It was the first time that a Ram has won the 100 breaststroke event at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
The last individual event was the 100 backstroke, where Martin qualified for her second "A" final of the night. She ended up fifth overall in a time of 55.48 seconds.
The final event of the night was the 400 medley relay, where Fordham picked up its fourth medal of the day, as Martin, Furneaux, Brunner, and McNary took bronze in a season-best time of 4:34.73.
The final day of the championship begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday with the preliminaries for the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 1650 freestyle, and the three-meter dive events.
