Williams Earns Her Fourth Weekly Honor After Breaking Single-Season Digs Record

Newport News, Va. – Fordham volleyball senior libero has earned her fourth Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honor this season and second straight, the league office announced Monday afternoon. Williams averaged over seven digs per set this weekend and set the single-season program record for digs on Friday night.

Williams recorded her sixth and seventh 30-dig matches of the year this past weekend and passed Stephanie Frost ('07) for the most digs in a single season, now up to 536. She now holds every libero record at Fordham, breaking the four- and five-set records this year, matching the three-set record each of the last three years, and moving up to the top of the career list, now with 1,757 during her four years, good for 4.38 per set.

In Division I, Williams is fourth with 6.09 digs per set and sixth with 536 digs. She played in her 400th set on Sunday, which was her 105th match. She's played nearly every set the past four years.

This is Williams' fourth weekly A-10 honor. No other Ram has won more than two in a single season.

The Rams host VCU on Friday night at 7 p.m. and celebrate Senior Day on Saturday against Davidson at 4:30 p.m.
