West Point, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis squad ventured up to West Point over the weekend to close out its fall schedule at the ITA Northeast Regionals where
Arina Taluyenko advanced to the round of 16 and
Weronika Pociej advanced out of qualifying draw to the main draw.
Arina Taluyenko
- Opened with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Regina Pitts from Seton Hall after receiving an open round bye
- Defeated Princeton's Daria Frayman, 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the round of 16
- Fell to Caroline Dunleavy of Yale in the round of 16, 6-3, 7-5
Weronika Pociej
- Opened the qualifying bracket with a marathon 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 win over Army's Bou Paola
- Defeated Tiara Higuchi from URI in another long match, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 10-6 to move in the main draw
- Beat LIU's Elinor Storkaas, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 in the first round of the main draw (round of 128)
- Fell to #2 seed Sofya Golubovskaya from Syracuse in the round of 32 in the main draw, 7-6 (6), 6-3
Valeriya Deminova
- Defeated Seton Hall's Mel Taal, 6-3, 6-3, in the first round of the main draw
- Defeated Stephanie Dolehide from Army, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (4) to advance to the round of 32
- Fell to Dartmouth's Ashley Hess in the round of 16, 6-1, 5-7, 6-1
