Newport News, Va. – (October 15, 2019) – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly awards winners for cross country on Tuesday with Fordham freshman John McGovern (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) earning Men's Rookie of the Week honors.  It is McGovern's first career weekly honor.
 
McGovern was the first freshman across the line at the 2019 Metropolitan Cross Country Championship, taking fifth overall in a time of 26:15.8.  He was one of four Fordham runners in the top five, as the Rams won the team championship for the second straight year, and the fourth time in the last six years.
 
McGovern and the rest of the Rams are back in action on Saturday, October 19^th, when Fordham runs at the Princeton Invitational at West Windsor Fields in New Jersey at 10:00 AM.
