Bronx, N.Y. – (November 30, 2018) – After a couple of weeks away from action, the Fordham squash team was back on the court on Friday night, as the Rams hosted the 12
th-ranked Virginia Cavaliers at the Lombardi Squash Courts. The Rams upset bid came up short falling by a 9-0 count.
The loss puts Fordham's record at 7-4 on the year, while Virginia improved to 3-3.
The Rams were shorthanded from the start, playing without the services of a couple of players. Fordham then had their hands full with the Cavaliers, falling in the remaining seven matches in three games.
Fordham's
Griffin Fitzgerald played at the #1 position against Patrick McElroy, falling by an 11-6, 11-4, and 11-2 count, while
Tommy White lost to Toby Mansford at the second slot, 11-5, 11-4, and 11-5.
The Rams' Winthrop Reed was edged at the third position by William Holey, 11-3, 11-3, and 11-6 with
Justin Esposito falling to Grayson Bubrosky , 11-4, 11-6, and 11-2.
In fifth position,
Justin Deckoff was outlasted by William Braff, 11-4, 11-3, and 11-6, while
Dylan Panichello was downed by Glenn Yates, 11-0, 11-4 and 11-6 at sixth position.
George Holiat took the final loss for Fordham, as Jarrett Odrich won 11-0, 11-3, and 11-0.
The Rams are back at it on Saturday with a 9:00 AM match against Washington University in St. Louis and a 4:30 PM match against Swarthmore.
