Lewisburg, Pa. – (November 18, 2018) – Sunday saw the conclusion of the annual Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where once again the Fordham Rams finished the day where they started in the team standings, while having some incredible individual performances.
In the team standings, the Fordham women finished second with 1,264 points, 300 points behind the top team Towson (1,564), while the Fordham men were seventh with 715.5 points.
Leading the performances on day three was senior
Tara Brunner, as she was a part of two event wins. She started the day by winning the 100 freestyle event in a season-best time of 50.54, just 0.3 seconds off the school record. Then in the final event of the day, she joined with
Samantha McDonald,
Michelle Martin, and
Caitlin McNary to win the 400 freestyle relay in a season-best time of 3:23.37.
Martin, McNary, and McDonald also scored highly in the 100 freestyle, finishing fourth (51.18), fifth (51.49), and sixth (51.67) respectively. In total, Fordham had eight women score in the 100 freestyle event.
Other top performances on Sunday included
Bayley Frierson (17:00.79) and
Kate Magill (17:04.27) taking fourth and fifth respectively in the 1650 freestyle,
Paulina Watson finishing third in the 200 backstroke (2:01.31),
Milly Furneaux ending up ninth in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.50), and
Jacqueline Dominger with a fourth place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:04.15).
In the three-meter dive,
Stephanie Kerkeles was the top diver for Fordham in 13
th place (219.70).
On the men's side, Fordham had five top ten finishes, which began with
Christopher Sleutjes, as he took seventh overall in the 1650 freestyle in 16:11.45.
In the 100 freestyle,
Spencer Clarke and
Bryce Bollesen were 1-2 in the "B" final of the 100 freestyle, which was good for ninth (45.99) and tenth (46.74) place respectively.
Travis Monahan also had a ninth place finish in his individual event, the 200 breaststroke, as he went 2:05.01 for a ninth place finish.
The final top ten came in the 400 freestyle relay, where Monahan, Bollesen,
Spencer Clarke, and
Joseph Vizza placed fifth in 3:05.01.
Other event-best performers were
Greg Lombana in the 200 butterfly, where he was 12
th in 1:53.48, while Vizza and
Scott Stern tied for 14
th in the 200 backstroke in 1:54.58.
The Fordham swimming & diving team will next be in action on December 5
th, when the Rams host Manhattan at 6:00 PM.
