Diving Preliminary Results
Lewisburg, Pa. – (November 16, 2018) – The Fordham swimming & diving team began their final meet before Thanksgiving break on Friday, as the Rams compete at the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
After day one, the Fordham women are in second place out of eight teams with 391 points, behind only Towson with 490. For the men, Fordham is seventh out of seven teams with 212.5 points.
Fordham kicked off the Bucknell Invitational in style by winning the women's 200 freestyle relay, as
Michelle Martin,
Samantha McDonald,
Caitlin McNary, and
Tara Brunner, clocked in with a new season-best time of 1:33.21. The men's team of
Travis Monahan,
Bryce Bollesen,
Auston Ramsay, and
Joseph Vizza also did well, claiming third place with a time of 1:23.12.
Next in the 500 freestyle, the Fordham women had five swimmers score, led by McNary, who finished fourth in 4:57.58.
Paulina Watson clocked in sixth (4:58.03), followed by
Bayley Frierson in tenth (4:59.65),
Kate Magill in 12
th (4:59.97), and
Chloe Mitchell in 23
rd (5:05.34).
In the men's 500, Fordham saw two swimmers score points, as
Christopher Sleutjes finished tenth in 4:35.94, followed by
Danny McGowan in 17
th (4:38.84).
The 200 IM came next with
Jacqueline Dominger taking 13
th overall (2:07.45) with
Amie Ko in 20
th (2:08.56) and
Hannah McGee in 23
rd (2:09.14). On the men's side,
Spencer Clarke won the "B" final for ninth place in 1:54.41 with
Greg Lombana taking 20
th In 1:56.88.
The 50 freestyle saw plenty of points for the team, especially the women, who had seven swimmers score in the top 24. Brunner (23.22), Martin (23.34), and McDonald (23.41) took home second, third, and fourth place finishes, respectively, with
Kiara Norris in seventh (23.85), McNary in 11
th (23.93),
Naima Mackrel in 12
th (24.20), and
Theresa Mullen in 16
th (23.97).
Over in the men's competition, three men scored in the 50 freestyle, including Monahan in seventh (20.84), Bollesen in a tie for tenth (21.09), and
Joseph Vizza in 19
th (21.21).
The final individual events were the women's one-meter dive and the men's three-meter dive.
Molly Dunn reached the finals on the one-meter board, scoring eighth in 235.85, followed by
Stephanie Kerkeles in 11
th (221.05) and
Natalie Ortof in 19
th (172.50). On the men's side,
Christopher Craig also made the finals, scoring 216.30 for eighth place.
Diego Perez also competed taking ninth with a score of 184.40.
The final event on day one was the 400 medley relay, which Fordham took third in the women's race (3:46.20), while the men were eighth (3:25.84).
The Bucknell Invitational continues on Saturday at 10:00 AM with preliminaries races.
