Cambridge, Mass. – The Fordham women's tennis team concluded the fall season at the Harvard Fall Scramble, where
Arina Taluyenko went a perfect 6-0 in her matches on the weekend.
It was a round-robin style tournament with doubles sets played to six points and singles two out of three full sets.
On Friday, Fordham faced off against Harvard where Taluyenko defeated Erica Oosterhout 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in first singles and
Nicole Li defeated Annika Bassey 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 in fifth singles.
On Saturday, the Rams battled conference foe Rhode Island. Fordham started strong taking the doubles point as Taluyenko and
Tatiana Grigoryan defeated Erin Hratian and Rachel Smilansky 6-2 in first doubles and Li and
Alexis Zobeideh defeated Tiara Higuchi and Halah Davis 6-2 in second doubles. In singles play, Taluyenko defeated Sydney Chratian 6-2, 6-1 in first singles, Grigoryan bested Higuchi 6-2, 6-3 in third singles, Li defeated Paulina Loredo 6-2, 6-1 in fourth singles and
Gianna Insogna bested Ariel Haber 6-3, 6-0 at the fifth singles position.
The Rams wrapped up play against Seton Hall on Sunday where they once again took the doubles point as Taluyenko and Grigoryan won 6-4 in first doubles and
Maia Balce and Insogna won 6-4 in third doubles. In singles play, Taluyenko defeated Regina Pitts 5-7, 7-6, 10-8 in first singles, Grigoryan bested Thandy Kangwa 6-4, 6-2 in third singles and Insogna defeated Mekeila Erspamer 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 at the sixth singles position.
