Fordham Game Notes

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University football Rams continue their 2017 season, the 117th varsity season at Rose Hill, by traveling to New Britain, Connecticut, to face the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils on Arute Field on Saturday, September 9, at 12:00 p.m.

The game will be streamed live on NEC Front Row with Bruce Biel (p-b-p) and Marc Robbins (color) announcing and broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on WFUVsports.org with James Corrigan (p-b-p), Tommy Aldrich (color) and Tom Scibelli (sidelines) handling the announcing chores.

Chase Edmonds
Fordham enters the game off an opening night loss at Army West Point last Friday while Central Connecticut also suffered an opening day loss at Syracuse last Saturday.

This will be the first ever meeting between Fordham and Central Connecticut on the gridiron. The Rams are 11-11 all-time against teams currently in the Northeast Conference (3-0 versus Saint Francis (Pa.), 3-8 against Wagner, 2-0 vs. Sacred Heart, 2-2 versus and 1-1 versus Bryant).

13 members of the Fordham University football squad will be returning to their native state when the Rams play at Central Connecticut State on Saturday. Additionally, four members of the Fordham University coaching staff plied their trade in the Nutmeg State at UConn, including head coach
Andrew Breiner, who served as a graduate assistant for the Huskies from 2009-2011.

Senior running back
Chase Edmonds became the school's all-time leading rusher last year and enters the game with 5,329 career rushing yards. The 5,329 career yards places Edmonds second on the Patriot League career rushing list, 294 yards behind Jordan Scott's record of 5,621 yards.

Edmonds also owns the Fordham and Patriot League career touchdown (70) and career rushing touchdown (63) records.

Senior quarterback
Kevin Anderson threw for 3,183 yards last year, the fourth best single season in school history, in his first year as a starter. His 233 passing yards so far in 2017 brings his career mark to 6,314, third best in school history. Anderson also has 59 career scoring strikes, third best all-time at Fordham.

The scout team players of the week were announced following practice on Thursday:
 Matt Donovan (offense for defense),
Dervin Hylton (defense for the offense) and
Ben Schutsky (special teams).

No New York area football team has won more games since 2012 than Fordham, who has amassed 46 victories over that stretch. The closest collegiate competitors are Sacred Heart (34) and Rutgers (29), while the NFL's Giants and Jets have 39 and 33 wins, respectively, each.
