157 Rams Named to 2017 Spring A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll

14 From Women’s Swimming & Diving Honored

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference honored 1,818 student-athletes that excelled in the classroom in the spring semester, earning Commissioner's Honor Roll distinction. For the fourth straight semester, this total, as well as the average per school, set league records. Included in that total were 14 from the Women's Swimming & Diving program.

Including the fall semester numbers, there were a total of 3,581 honorees during 2016-17, the most in league history. Previously the single year record was 3,377, set in 2015-16. Both marks are the best single-semester numbers of Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade's tenure.

The 1,818 is the highest number of student-athletes that have qualified for the award since 2007 when the lists were regularly compiled. The total surpassed the 1,763 set during the 2016 fall semester, which was announced in February. In addition, the 14 member institutions had an average 129.8 student-athletes qualify for the Commissioner's Honor Roll, surpassing last semester's record average of 125.9 honorees per institution.

To be listed on the bi-annual Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10-sponsored sport must have a 3.5 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale) during the specified semester. Freshmen are eligible to receive the award.

George Mason had the most spring semester honorees with 159, followed by Fordham with 157 and Massachusetts with 156. A complete list of honorees is included with this release. For the year, Fordham (323), UMass (321), and George Mason (304) totaled the most honorees. A complete list of Fordham Women's Swimming & Diving honorees is included below.
