Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis team swept its matches Saturday at Hawthorn Rooney Courts, defeating Saint Peter's 5-2, Adelphi 6-1 and Ramapo College 6-1.
Fordham started its match against Saint Peter's taking the doubles point as
Fabian Hansch Mauritzson and
Lutwin de Macar defeated Ignacio Tintore and Sebastian Ferrer 6-2 in second doubles and
Finn Kemper and
Jeremy Chung took down Ivan Knezevic and Douglas Nover 6-4 in third doubles.
In singles play,
Max Green defeated Tintore 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 in third singles, de Macar bested Igor Khvorostian 6-4, 6-2 in fourth singles,
Finn Kemper defeated Knezevic in a hard fought three-setter 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-1 in fifth singles and
Alex Makatsaria took down Nover 7-6 (5), 6-1 in sixth singles.
The Rams then continued their strong play, dominating Adelphi University 6-1 in the second match of the day.
Fordham once again took the doubles point as Mauritzson and de Macar cruised past Matteo Cannavera and Sabin Saveluc 6-1 in first doubles and Kemper and Chung defeated David Robres and Connor Dove 6-3 in second doubles.
The Rams then took all but one singles match as de Macar cruised past Saveluc 6-2, 6-1 in third singles, Kemper defeated Kalabukhan 7-5, 6-3 in fourth singles and Chung clinched the match defeating Dove in a three-setter 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 in fifth singles.
Max Green defeated Robres 4-6, 6-1, 10-3 in second singles and Cameron Posilico won his match by default.
In the final match of the day Fordham defeated Ramapo College 6-1.
The Rams continued their perfect doubles play as Thornes and Green defeated Ramapo 6-4 in first doubles, Makatsara and
Gabriel Mashaal defeated Ramapo 6-4 in second doubles and Posilico and Durkovic finished off the Roadrunners in third doubles winning 6-3.
The Rams took five of six singles matches as Mashaal defeated Brendan Hines 6-0, 6-1 in fifth singles, Makatsaria defeated Patrovics 6-4, 6-0 in second doubles and
Steven Duka bested Kevin Ilihets 6-2, 6-3 to clinch the match. Also earning points for the Rams,
Joseph Kavaloski cruised past Cal Cacciaguida 6-1, 6-2 in sixth singles and
Jeremy Chung defeated Mike Abelev 7-5, 6-4.
The Rams return to action Saturday, October 14, as they host the Fordham Four-In-The Fall.
