Filip Horak Named Atlantic 10 Men’s Tennis Most Outstanding Rookie

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham freshman Filip Horak was named the 2024-2025 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Most Outstanding Rookie, It was announced by the conference today. He is the first Fordham men's tennis student-athlete to earn a major Atlantic 10 postseason award.
 
Horak is joined in receiving Atlantic 10 honors by junior Dhillon Virdee-Oakley who, along with Horak, was named First Team All-Atlantic 10, while freshman Will Lokier was named Second Team All-Conference. Additionally, sophomore Dhananjay Athreya was named to the All-Academic Team.
 
Horak had an impressive rookie campaign, amassing a 14-4 singles record, leading the Rams in singles wins. He was 12-2 in dual match play, undefeated at the first or second position, playing at first (2-0), second (7-0), and third singles (3-2). He also amassed nine doubles wins, seven in dual matches, playing at second doubles.
 
Virdee-Oakley, who was named the team's MVP, compiled 12 singles wins on the year, the second most on the team. He played predominantly at first singles in dual matches, picking up seven of his eight dual match singles wins at the position. Virdee-Oakley also notched a team-best 13 doubles victories, nine of those at first doubles in dual match play.
 
Lokier made a successful jump to collegiate tennis in 2024-2025, picking up eleven singles wins as a freshman this year, third most among the Rams. Ten of his singles wins came in dual matches where he earned wins at second (1), third (5), and fourth (4) singles. In doubles play, Lokier amassed ten victories, second most on the team, with nine of those coming in dual matches.
 
Athreya, a Finance major who earned CSC Academic All-District honors last week, compiled six wins in singles play, competing mostly at second singles. He was also 13-11 in doubles action, 9-7 in dual matches, tying for the team lead in doubles wins. All nine of his doubles wins came at the third position.
 
Fordham recorded nine match wins this spring, the most for the Rams since 2019, and earned a four-seed at the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship, Fordham's highest-ever seeding.
