Volleyball Hosts Saint Peter's Wednesday Night

Bronx, N.Y. – The Rose Hill Gymnasium will play host to the Fordham Volleyball team's (5-5) second home match of the season on Wednesday night, against Saint Peter's (0-3) at 7 p.m. The Rams will be looking to start a winning streak after defeating Presbyterian in straight sets in this past weekend's finale.

Last Time Out
Similar to the Terrier/Rose Hill Classic at the beginning of the month, the Rams dropped their first two contests of this weekend's Northeastern Tournament before rebounding with a straight-set sweep of their final opponent. In this case, Fordham lost in four sets to both Northeastern and Binghamton, before sweeping Presbyterian. Freshman Olivia Fairchild was named to the All-Tournament team for the third week in a row after sharing match-high kills against the hosts and leading all players in the other two contests, amassing 48 over the weekend, adding 26 digs and nine aces. As a team, the Rams tallied a season-high 17 kills in their third set victory over Binghamton, while also making a season-low two attack errors in the final set against Presbyterian. In the second set against the latter, Fordham generated a season-high 48 total attacks, six more than their previous best mark.
 
National/Conference Rankings
On the national level, the team's 1.95 service aces per set ranks 11^th but their total of 78 is third-most in the country. Elsewhere in the top-100 as a group, the Rams are 79^th in kills (479), 80^th in assists (445), 87^th in total attacks (1,304), and 97^th in opponent hit percentage (.183). Individually, Fairchild 27 service aces ranks third in the nation and leads the A-10 by eight. Fairchild is also in the top-50 in points (13^th – 199.0), kills (17^th – 164), points/set (21^st – 4.98), and kills/set (41^st – 4.10), while sitting just outside that mark at 54^th with her 389 total attacks. The Phoenix native's kill total ranks second in the A-10 while her set average sits third. Sophomore Maddy Walsh's 398 assists is 20^th in the country, while Morgan Williams' 160 digs are 74^th. Walsh leads the A-10 in assists but is fifth with a 9.95 per set average.
 
Scouting the Opposition
Saint Peter's have only played in three matches this season so far, losing all three in straight sets to Providence, Lehigh, and Lafayette, out in Pennsylvania at the beginning of the month. The Peacocks averaged 6.67 kills/set and struggled with their efficiency to a .066 clip over that weekend. Saint Peter's averaged seven total blocks per contest. Saint Peter's will play NJIT Tuesday night.

Fordham doesn't have to travel far for this weekend's Columbia Invitational, held on the Upper West Side just a few miles southwest into Manhattan. The Rams will face Hartford on Friday afternoon, starting at 4:30 p.m., before double dipping on Saturday against Providence at 1:30 p.m. and the hosts at 7:30 p.m.
