SERIES HISTORY: Fordham and Davidson have only met one before, which came last year at Houlihan Park. The Rams took two of three games from the Wildcats, dropping the opening game, 5-3, while taking the final two games, 2-1 and 6-2.
Â
LAST TIME OUT: Fordham freshman pitcher
Ryan Remo allowed just one run on four hits over seven innings of work, while
Ryan McNally hit his eighth home run of the season, as the Rams kicked off an eight-game road swing with a 4-1 victory over the Columbia Lions at Satow Stadium.
Â
Fordham got on the board right away, scoring twice in the first inning.Â
Ryan McNally and
Luke Stampfl both drew two-out walks, which was followed by a two-run double to right by
Mark Donadio to give the Rams a 2-0 lead.
Â
The Rams added to the lead in the third with a single run, making it 3-0.Â
Jason Lundy singled through the left side to start the frame, and then stole second and third. He then scored on a sacrifice fly by McNally.
Â
Fordham got another run in the fifth, when McNally cranked a solo home run to left, his team-leading eighth of the season, for a 4-0 edge.
Ryan McNally has three home runs and 12 RBI in his last 15 games.
Â
Columbia got on the board in the bottom of the frame, loading the bases and getting an RBI-ground out from Will Savage.
That run was the only offense the Lions could muster against Fordham starting pitcher
Ryan Remo, as he scattered four hits and four walks over a season-best seven innings of work to earn his second win of the season.Â
Jimmy Murphy came on in relief of Remo to record his third save of the year, pitching two scoreless innings with a strikeout.
Â
At the plate, McNally was 1-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI, while Lundy was 1-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Donadio was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI with
Ryan Mahoney and
Joseph DeVito both going 1-for-3.
