Harrison, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis split two shortened (4+1) matches on Sunday afternoon and evening: a 1-4 loss against Marist and a 3-2 victory over Wagner. With the results, the Rams move to 4-4 on the year and the victory snaps a streak of four losses after the Rams began the season 3-0.

Junior transfer
Tomas Cosmai, in #1 singles, was the lone win for the Rams in the afternoon match against the Red Foxes, with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over opponent Rudolf Kurz.
Victor Li fell to Fredrik Bjerke despite taking the first set, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, while
Joseph Kavaloski lost to Jan Dernic, 6-1, 6-4, and
Cameron Posillico dropped a match to Dylan Fletcher, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles action,
Nick Borak and
Pedro Alonso teamed up for the first time this season but dropped a tough three-set decision to Justin Chanthalangsy and Paulo Siracusa, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Fordham carried its tough play into the evening's meeting against the Seahawks. In thrilling fashion, the Rams came from behind down 2-0 to take the event, 3-2, with three straight singles victories.

Kavaloski and Posillico teamed up for the second time on the year in doubles action but dropped a 6-1, 6-3, decision to Charlton Boyd and Allen Wang. Wagner took a brief but solid 2-0 lead with Ilya Kneppelhout's 6-3, 6-2 victory over
Pedro Alonso in #3 singles.

With the Seahawks a win away, freshman Li kick started a Rams comeback with his 6-1, 6-3 win over Dale Sandy in #2 singles. Next, Cosmai made it two for two on the day with a 6-3, 7-5 win over #1 singles equal Lucas Lu. The match came down to #4 singles between Borak and Eric Poland. The senior from Brooklyn took set one, 6-4, but Poland answered in the second frame with the same line. Down 4-1 in the final set, Borak won five straight games to clinch the match for Fordham. The win gets Borak back to even on the season, at 4-4, in singles action.

"Today was our strongest performance of the year," head coach
Mike Sowter said after the two matches, "Marist is a very deep squad that has been to the NCAA Tournament in seven of the last eight years and we played them close. We're starting to show a consistent effort every time we step on the court; we're playing much better in those close situations.

The Rams are back in Harrison again next weekend for Atlantic 10 action. Fordham will host Saint Louis next Sunday evening, March 6, at 8 p.m. inside Life Time Athletic. It'll be the last time the Rams play in Harrison as they move back out to the Hawthorn/Rooney Tennis Courts on campus on March 19
th against Drew.
