Men’s Tennis Comes Up Short at Duquesne, 4-3

Rams to take on Dayton on Sunday

Wexford, Pa. – The Fordham men's tennis team traveled to Pennsylvania on Friday for a match with Duquesne University. The Rams gave the Dukes all they could handle before coming up just short, falling to the Dukes, 4-3, at the Oxford Athletic Club.
 
The match opened with Duquesne winning the doubles point, taking two of the three doubles matches. The Fordham win in doubles came at the third position where Will Lokier and Mateusz Gradzki defeated Alfrendo Vogelaar and Pierce Manning, 7-6(5).
 
The Rams picked up three points in singles play, winning at second, fourth and sixth singles. 2. Dhillon Virdee-Oakley upended Aril Kayra Tuna at second singles, 6-4, 6-3, while Dhananjay Athreya took care of Austin Lai at the fourth spot, 6-0, 6-3. Nicolas Garnier dropped the first set at sixth singles to Teo Papadopoulos, 7-6, but came back to win the second and third, 6-1 and 6-2 for the win.
