Bronx, N.Y. – The four-time defending Atlantic 10 champion Fordham softball team and head coach
Bridget Orchard have announced the program's 2017 schedule, featuring four match-ups with ranked opponents, and 23 conference contests, 12 of which will be played in the Bronx at Bahoshy Field. The season begins at #14 Arizona on Thursday, February 9, at 6 p.m. EST.
The Rams open their season with five tournaments spread out across the country. First, they will head to Tuscon, Ariz., to play two games against the #14 Wildcats, plus games against Northwestern, Tulsa, and Cal State Northridge over three days. The following weekend, Fordham will head to Greenville, S.C. to compete in the Pirate Clash, hosted by East Carolina. The Rams will face Northeast Conference foes Bryant and Saint Francis in a doubleheader on Friday, February 17, beginning at noon, then play the Red Flash and the hosts the following day starting at 4:15 p.m. The weekend will wrap up with a single contest, against Bryant, on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

The next weekend, Fordham will travel to Orlando to participate in the Diamond Citrus Classic I, held at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex. This will be the seventh straight year the Rams have competed in the annual event. Fordham will start the weekend off by playing the Czech Republic national team at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 24, before later playing #8 Florida at 3:30 p.m. The following day the Rams will play Oakland and Elon, then Georgia Southern on Sunday morning.

Kicking off the month of March will be a tournament hosted by North Carolina State. On Friday, March 3, the Rams will play both Lehigh and Rutgers in a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. Fordham will take on the hosts at noon the following day and the last two contests of the tournament will be determined by results and seeding.

The final regular season tournament of the spring will come a week later down in Florida once again. The Rams will split time on the campuses of Florida International and Florida Atlantic, in Miami and Boca Raton, respectively, over five days, although the tournament is officially hosted by Florida Atlantic. On Friday, March 10, Fordham will play Rutgers and FIU with times to be announced, before heading over to Boca Raton for the remainder of the weekend. Fordham will play Ball State and Brown on Saturday, Illinois State on Sunday, and Fairfield and the hosts, currently ranked #24 in the country, on Tuesday.

A week later, Fordham will travel to Hofstra for a single contest on March 21, at 3 p.m., and will host Iona the following day at the same time. On Saturday, March 25, the A-10 portion of the schedule begins, along with a couple nonconference match-ups thrown in. All doubleheaders will be played on Saturday unless noted otherwise.

The Rams open conference play at home with a three-game series against Rhode Island on March 25 and 26. Saturday's doubleheader begins at noon. Fordham will also host Saint Joseph's the following weekend, with the exact same times as the Rhode Island series. However, the Rams have two midweek nonconference match-ups, first at Seton Hall on Tuesday, March 28, at 4 p.m., then at home against Stony Brook the following day at 2 p.m.

Starting April 8, Fordham embarks on an 11-day, 10-game road swing. The Rams travel to Fairfax, Va. for a three-game series against George Mason, also the site of this year's A-10 Championship, with a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday at 2 p.m. A midweek doubleheader at Lehigh awaits the Rams next on Wednesday, April 12, starting at 2 p.m., before traveling to Amherst to play a trio of games at Massachusetts, with a Friday, April 14, doubleheader starting at noon, and a single Saturday contest at 2 p.m.

A Wednesday, April 19, trip to Olean, N.Y. yields a doubleheader against St. Bonaventure, beginning at 2 p.m., before Fordham returns to the Bronx for the first time in nearly three weeks. Fordham will wrap up the home portion of its regular season schedule with three-game series against George Washington (April 22-23) and Dayton (April 29-30), both with identical Saturday-Sunday schedules (Saturday doubleheader starting at noon, Sunday game at 1 p.m.) and a midweek contest against St. John's on Wednesday, May 3 at 2:30 p.m.

The 2017 regular season will come to a close with a trio of games at La Salle: a Saturday doubleheader starting at noon and the regular season finale on Sunday, May 7, at noon.

The A-10 Championship, hosted by George Mason, begins on May 10. NCAA Regionals, which the Rams are hoping to reach for the fifth straight year, begin on May 19.
