Softball Moves SLU Series Opener to Thursday Night

The Rams will play under the lights at 8:00 p.m. followed by the doubleheader as scheduled Friday

Bronx, N.Y. – Opening their weekend series in the midwest a day early, Fordham University Softball will now begin its three-game set at Saint Louis tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT on ESPN+/

The change comes amid inclement weather expected in The River City on Saturday, moving the series finale to the opener later Thursday night. Friday's doubleheader is expected to be played as scheduled.

Fordham (14-17, 6-6) took its second straight series win over George Washington this weekend winning games one and three in the series, before downing Hofstra, 4-1 yesterday in The Bronx. Saint Louis (14-19, 6-6) lost two of three to Rhode Island last weekend, taking the series opener, 4-0.

Meeting for the first time since the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship series, the Rams hold a 32-18 record against the Billikens all time, which includes six meetings last season alone. Fordham took one of three games in the regular season, before defeating Saint Louis in the A-10 quarterfinals a few months later. Saint Louis would advance in the losers bracket to play the Rams two more times in the championship, winning on a pair of walk-offs to clinch the title.

Playoff Picture

With four conference series remaining in the regular season after this weekend, the A-10 has been tightly contested all season, with much up for grabs as the second half of the league slate begins. Saint Joseph's leads the A-10 at 7-2 in conference play, followed by Loyola Chicago at 6-3.

From there it's a four-way tie for third heading into this weekend, with Dayton, George Washington, Fordham, and Saint Louis all even at 6-6. St. Bonaventure sits at 4-5, ahead of George Mason at 4-8, and Rhode Island at 3-6 to round out the league table.

Notes

Fordham as a team are second in the Atlantic 10 with 16 double plays turned on the year, 29th in the nation, while averaging 0.53 double plays per game, 15th best in Division I.

Defensively the Rams lead the league and sit 50th in the country with a .971 fielding percentage on the year.

Olivia Simcoe has registered eight complete games for the Rams, which leads the A-10 and places her 44th amongst all Division I pitchers for complete games in 2026. Elizabeth Gaisior is fourth in the conference with five complete games as well.

Simcoe and Holly Beeman are second and third respectively in the A-10 with a 1.14 and 1.18 WHIP each, both top 100 in the nation.

Neleh Nogay is second in the A-10 and 21st in the nation with 20 stolen bases on the year, while ranked 25th nationally with 0.67 stolen bases per game.

Nogay holds the Fordham record for career stolen bases after breaking the previous mark of 85 earlier this season. She became just the sixth active player in all of Division I softball with 100 career steals, reaching triple digits against Army on Mar. 25.
