Softball Drops 5-2 Decision to Washington at NCAA Regional

Kate McGuire Finishes 2-for-3 with an RBI for Fordham

Fayetteville, Ark. – (May 16, 2026) – The Fordham softball team gave the Washington Huskies all they could handle on Saturday afternoon, taking a 2-1 lead halfway through the first elimination game of the NCAA Fayetteville Regional.The Huskies though came through with a three-run fifth inning and added another run in the sixth to take the 5-2 win.
 
THE GAME
  • With the game scoreless through two innings, Washington took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI-single by Alexis DeBoer.
  • The Rams then rallied in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead on the Huskies.Fordham loaded the bases and got back-to-back RBI-singles by Kate McGuire and Victoria Klimaszewski to grab the lead.
  • The Huskies answered back with a three-run fifth inning, highlighted by another DeBoer RBI-single as well as one from Jaydn Glab, to take the lead back at 4-2.
  • Washington added one more tally in the inning for the 5-2 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Holly Beeman (6-5) got the start in the circle for Fordham, allowing four runs on nine hits over four innings with two strikeouts.
  • In addition to her RBI-single, Klimaszewski also pitched 2.2 innings of relief with two strikeouts, while Elizabeth Gaisior recorded the final out in the circle.
  • McGuire finished 2-for-3 with an RBI to cap her fine career at Rose Hill.
  • Neleh Nogay racked up an infield single in the seventh inning, which was the 252nd hit of her career, moving her into sole possession of third place on Fordham's all-time list, breaking a tie with Allison Twarowski (251 – 2005-08).
  • Swan was also 1-for-4 with a run scored, registering a hit in both NCAA Regional games.
