Bronx, N.Y. – (August 25, 2026) – Fordham softball head coach Melissa Inouye announced the latest additions to the Rams' roster, as five new players will join the squad.
 
The Rams will welcome junior transfer Abbie Ahearn (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan Elbridge (St. Bonaventure)), as well as first year players Audrey Amoruso (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills), Kaylah Hopkins (Rosharon, Texas/Manvel), Karissa Knapp (Poway, Calif./Poway), and Mya McLeod (Stafford, Va./Mountain View).
 
"We are excited to welcome Abbie, Audrey, Kaylah, Karissa and Mya to the Ramily," said Inouye. "This is a talented, athletic and versatile group who have competed at a high level throughout their high school and travel ball careers. Each brings unique strengths, a competitive mindset and the ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball. Beyond their talent, we value the character, work ethic and team-first mentality they will bring to our program. We believe they are a great fit for the culture we continue to build at Fordham and can help us continue competing for championships. We look forward to supporting their growth and watching them develop and succeed on and off the field as Rams."  
 
Ahearn spent the past two seasons as the starting shortstop at St. Bonaventure, starting all 98 games she appeared in for the Bonnies.  A two-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, she totaled 40 runs scored, 12 extra-base hits, eight stolen bases, and 18 RBI over those two seasons.  In 2026, she was a CSC Academic All-District honoree, setting personal-best in batting average (.246), runs scored (22), and RBI (10).
 
Prior to her time at St. Bonaventure, Ahearn was a multi-sport athlete at Jordan Elbridge High School, competing in softball, basketball, soccer and serving as team captain of each squad.  She finished as the school record holder for runs (107), hits (104), home runs (14) and stolen bases (80) in softball.   She was a four-time First Team All-League selection, three-time offensive MVP, and a two-time All-CNY selection.  As a senior, she was named the Auburn Citizen Player of the Year, while being the Liberty 2 Player of the Year as a sophomore.  Ahearn was also a two-time scholar-athlete and a member of the National Honor Society.

Inouye on Ahearn: "Having played against her the last two years, we saw first hand her defensive skills as she took a few hits away from us. She adds good experience and depth to our infield and we look forward to working with her offensively."
 
Amoruso was a four-year starter and two-year captain at Indian Hills High School in New Jersey, setting or tying career records for hits (166), home runs (20), and RBI (110).  She finished her time at Indian Hills as a four-time First Team All-League and All-County selection, while earning First Team All-North Jersey twice (2025 & 2026).  In 2026, she was also Second Team All-State and First Team All-Group 1 pick, while helping Indian Hills to their second straight State, Section 1, Group 1, and Sectional Championships.  Amoruso played summer ball for the NJ Pride, which took second place at the IDT Colorado in 2026 and third in 2025.  Her addition to the Rams continues a long line of players from the NJ Pride program, which includes Fordham Hall of Fame inductee Krystle Henry and All-Atlantic 10 performers Gina Capardi, Cora Ianiro, and Sarah Taffet, as well as four-year standouts Dana Beringhelli and Ally Vergona.  In the classroom, Amoruso was a member of the World Language National Honors Society.

Inouye on Amoruso: "Audrey is an athletic and competitive pitcher who had a successful high school career. She has a good repertoire of pitches, even-keeled presence in the circle and does a good job of staying composed and attacking hitters."
 
A four-year player at Manvel High School in Texas, Hopkins was a four-time First Team All-League outfielder, earning MVP honors twice in 2025 and 2026, while receiving Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2024 and 2025.  A two-year AlvinISD AIMS Award nominee, she was a four-year Academic All-District selection and a member of the National Honor Society.  For summer ball, Hopkins was a member of Texas Impact Gold Jackson/Jazz, which won the Southwest Summer Nationals in 2026.

Inouye on Hopkins: "Kaylah is a dynamic left-handed triple threat hitter and her speed will definitely create chaos in the infield and on the bases. She's a solid defender as she adds athleticism, range and a good arm to the outfield.."
 
Knapp was a four-year infielder at Poway High School in California.  She was the team MVP in 2026 after being named First Team All-League as a senior.  She was additionally the 2024 team defensive MVP and played summer ball for California Power Surge Walling Premier.  In addition to softball, Knapp also played volleyball at Poway.

Inouye on Knapp: "Karissa will add quality depth to our defense at multiple positions as she has good fundamentals. Offensively, she can produce both with good contact and some power.."
 
McLeod was a utility player/catcher at Mountain View High School in Stafford, Virginia.  A 2026 team captain, she earned team MVP honors as a senior.  She was a two-time All-State selection in 2025 and 2026, while also earning First Team All-Region three times (2024-26) and All-District honors four times (2023-26).  A member of the National English Honor Society, McLeod played summer ball for Virginia Glory National Mertz-Griffin, which is the same organization that current Rams Elizabeth Gaisior and Sydney May played for.

Inouye on McLeod: "Mya is a versatile player as her experience behind the plate and in the infield gives us more quality depth. Offensively she swings hard, has a powerful bat and the ability to hit the long ball."
