Softball Splits Friday Doubleheader with Game One Rally

The Rams scored 10 runs in the final two innings to take the opener, 12-4

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Splitting Friday's doubleheader with the Billikens, Fordham University Softball rallied for 10 runs in the final two innings to take game one over Saint Louis 12-4, before falling 4-1 in game two.

GAME 1 | Fordham 12, Saint Louis 4

Junior Olivia Simcoe got her seventh win of the season for Fordham (15-18, 7-7). The right-hander went five innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on two hits, allowing three walks and striking out one.

At the plate, the Rams were paced by freshman Sadira Forcucci, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a home run, a walk and four RBIs. Senior Nicki Sudall compiled a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and four RBIs. Senior Eva Koratsis also helped out for Fordham, putting together two hits in five trips to the plate while adding a double and three RBIs.

HOW GAME ONE HAPPENED

The Rams got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Fordham got an RBI single from Sudall, scoring senior Kate McGuire from second base. The Maroon and White built on their lead in the third inning using an RBI single off the bat of Forcucci, which brought the Rams lead to 2-0.

Fordham's lead had evaporated by the time the sixth inning arrived and turned into a 3-2 Saint Louis advantage, before the Rams re-gained control shortly after. The Fordham bats heated up in the inning, scoring six runs, including a two-run home run off the bat of Forcucci, and a two-run double from Sudall.

The Billikens fought back, closing the gap to 8-4 until Fordham added some insurance in the seventh. The Rams scored four runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Koratsis, bringing the score to 12-4 in favor of Fordham, before seeing out the win.

Senior Neleh Nogay also helped out for Fordham, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.

Senior Holly Beeman started and took the loss in the circle for Fordham as the right-hander went six innings, giving up four runs, one earned, on seven hits, allowing four walks and striking out three.

The Rams got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Junior Mikayla Swan came across to score the lone run for Fordham and get them on the board. The Rams were unable to hold the lead, as Saint Louis tied things up in the fifth and took the lead in the sixth to grab the 4-1 win.
