The Fordham squash team wrapped up a unique experience on Friday, as the Rams finished their seven-day stay in the United Kingdom, where Fordham played exhibition matches against a variety of club teams in the U.K.
Throughout their trip, the Rams gave their own updates on the trip.
On day six, the final day with a match, Fordham fell to St. george's by a score of 9-0.
Senior Kincade Webster chimes in with his recap and photos.Â
"We started the day just outside of Oxford and drove down to St. George's, a gated suburb of London, where a number of famous musicians, actors, and soccer players live. We stopped into the club to say hello to the head pro, Danny Lee, a good friend of our coach
Bryan Patterson. The member-owned club is incredibly 'posh' to quote the locals, with a number of grass tennis courts, multiple indoor tennis courts, four glass-backed squash courts and one all-glass exhibition squash court.Â

After dropping our bags at the club, we took a quick 30 minute train ride into Waterloo station in London, and got our second chance of the trip to walk around the city. We walked down the Thames down to London Bridge and crossed over to the Westminster side on our way to the Tower of London. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to walk around inside, but the exterior certainly was impressive. We then walked back up alongside the Thames to Waterloo, where we caught a train back to St. George's.

It was another tough match at St. George's, and the Fordham squad fell 0-9 to a solid team. Freshman
Robert Levis managed to pick up games in a 3-2 loss at #9, while I lost a very tight four-game match to Stuart Hadden, a player on the professional tour ranked about #200 in the world. Considering it was the last day of a long trip, the team played extremely well and fought hard for every point. Junior
Jimmy Shinnick and sophomore
John Lennon both lost 3-0, but the score didn't reflect how close many of the points were. After finishing our matches, we had a great dinner courtesy of the club, and headed to our individual hosts' houses for a night of rest."
The Rams now head back to the States, where they will next be in action January 29-31 at the Johns Hopkins Round Robin.
