Box ScoreHempstead, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis squad competed at the Hofstra Men's Invitational on September 25 and 26 where
Harris Durkovic advances to D flight semifinals.
Durkovic opened competition in the D flight with an 8-3 win over Justin Sinprasith from Saint Peter's in the round of 16, and then upended Hofstra's Kevin Devine, 8-2, in the quarterfinals before falling to Allen Wang of Wagner in the semifinals, 6-1, 6-1.
In A singles,
Joseph Kavaloski opened play with an 8-2 loss to Juan Alanis of Wagner before coming back to defeat Hofstra's Marcus Smith in the (Hofstra) 8-6. He then was upended by Jorge Rodriguez of Saint Peter's in the semifinals, 9-7.
Christopher Caroli opened play in the D flight with an 8-2 loss to NYIT's Alexandre Martinez. He then won by default over Ishaq Khwaja from Stony Brook in the consolation quarterfinals before falling to NYIT's Jamie Salvador, 8-4, in the semifinals.
In other A flight play,
Pedro Alonzo fell to Stony Brook's Samuel Taieb in the round of 16, 8-1, and then dropped an 8-3 decision to Daniil Ivanov of Saint Peter's in the consolation quarterfinals.
In B singles, Joseph Brander fell to Andres-Sebastian Rojas from Saint Peter's 8-1 in the round of 16 and then fell to Hofstra's Yahn Gawrit, 8-1, in the consolation quarterfinals.
In other B singles play, Mikolaj dropped an 8-3 decision to NYIT's Tomas Lieb in the round of 16 and then fell 8-2 to Eric Poland of Wagner in the consolation quarterfinals.
In C singles, Cameron Posillico opened play with an 8-2 loss to NYIT Alex Martinez before coming back to defeat Saint Peter's Gabe Russotto, 9-8, in the consolation quarterfinals. He then fell to Kenzo Kauffmann from Stony Brook, 8-2, in the consolation quarterfinals.
In doubles play, all three Fordham doubles teams fell in the first round.
The Rams return to action on Friday, October 2, as they open play at the Quinnipiac Invitational in Hamden, Conn.
