ResultsThe Fordham swimming & diving team was back in action for the first time since early December on Friday, as the Rams hosted the Iona Gaels at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center. The Rams picked up right where they left off in December, as they swept the meet from the Gaels, 140-82 on the women's side and 137-92 on the men's.
The Rams opened the meet with seven straight event wins, beginning with two in the 400 medley relay event.
Spencer Chappell,
Victoria McGovern,
Shannon Lulley, and
Maureen McKenna won the women's event in 3:59.18, while
J.T. Klimko,
Steve Sholdra,
Thomas Gillespie, and
Patrick Militti took home the men's event in 3:33.86.
Kalena Laurent then captured the first of two individual events on the day, winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:30.19. She also won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:08.64.
Laurent wasn't the only dual event winner, as
Megan Gray, Sholdra, and
Chris Viera all won twice. Gray took the 100-yard freestyle in 53.36 seconds, while tying
Chandler Lulley for first in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.97 seconds.
Sholdra won both the 200-yard individual medley (1:55.46) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.07), while Viera took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.02) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:47.84).

Shannon Lulley in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.45),
Julia Day (2:11.39) and
Miguel Mattox (1:56.81) in the 200-yard backstroke,
Erin McBride in the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.72),
Liam Semple in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:42.17),
Brandon Strong in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.22), and
Anna Marshall in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.17).
In the diving events,
Natalie Wodniak won the women's one-meter competition with a score of 196.95, while
Claire Parker took the three-meter event with a score of 215.03. On the men's side,
Hanul Moon won the one-meter dive with a score of 246.15.
The Rams then finished day with a win in the women's 400 freestyle relay, as McKenna, Chappell,
Natalie Malicki, and Gray posted a top time of 3:39.20.
The Fordham swimming & diving team will be right back in action on Saturday, January 17
th, as the Rams host the La Salle Explorers and the Richmond Spiders for a 1:00 PM meet.
