Freshmen Brian Cook & Thomas Slattery Named Corvais ECAC Men's Cross Country Co-Rookies of the Week

Cook Earns Honor for the Second Straight Week, While Slattery Earns First Nod

ECAC Release

REVISED - For the second straight week, Fordham was honored on the ECAC Corvais Cross Country honor roll, as freshmen Brian Cook (Pearl River, N.Y.) and Thomas Slattery (Garden City, N.Y.) were selected as Co-Rookies of the Week, it was announced this week.

Slattery finished 15th (26:14.21), while Cook was 19th (26:21.02), as they completed the Van Cortlandt Park five-mile course at the Iona College Meet of Champions, this past Saturday.

Fordham had an impressive finish at the Iona Meet of Champions, finishing second out of 23 teams, behind only nationally ranked Arkansas.  The Rams ended up with five runners in the top 20, including Slattery and Cook.

It's been a stellar week of news for the Fordham men's cross country team, as the Rams also entered the USTFCCCA Northeast Regional rankings at #10.  The only other time Fordham has been regionally ranked was a two-week stint at the start of the 2012 season.

The Fordham cross country teams will next be in action on Friday, September 26th, when the Rams travel to Boston for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, hosted by Boston College.
