Tim Swatek added to his postseason awards cache today when he was named First Team All-Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Swatek had previously been named to the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Baseball All-Star team (Second Team) and All-Atlantic 10 (First Team). He is Fordham's first ABCA All-Region selection since Chris Walker in 2010.
Swatek just wrapped up a brilliant senior campaign, where his was named First Team All-Atlantic 10, after leading the conference in batting average (.392), on-base percentage (.491), and walks (32). He was the first Ram to lead the Atlantic 10 in batting average since Mike Marchiano in 1997. He also finished second in the league in slugging percentage (.548) and stolen bases (22), while being fourth in hits (73).
In league play, Swatek posted a league-high .406 batting average to go with 19 runs scored, 16 RBI, and 12 stolen bases.
Behind Swatek, the Rams reached the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time since 2010, where he was selected to the All-Championship Team. He hit .545 in three games, collecting six hits in 11 at bats, which included three extra-base hits. He also added three RBI and a .643 on-base percentage.
Swatek ended his career with 203 hits, good for 13th all-time, and finished in the top ten all-time at Rose Hill in games played (9th - 194), at bats (10th - 667), triples (T4th -12), and walks (8th - 115).
