Baseball Outlasts Dayton, 5-4

Rams Take Series Finale from Flyers

Dayton, Ohio – (April 5, 2026) – Fordham's Joey Donnelly and Caden Young each drove in two runs, as the Rams took the Atlantic 10 series finale from the Dayton Flyers, 5-4, at Woerner Field on Sunday.
 
With the win, Fordham is now 14-16 overall, 6-6 in the Atlantic 10, while Dayton moved to 17-13 on the year, 5-7 in the league.
 
THE GAME
  • Dayton scored right away in the first inning, picking up an RBI-single by Colin Lynch for a 1-0 lead.
  • Fordham tied the game in the second inning, as Caden Young singled home Madden Ocko.
  • After the team's exchanged runs in the fourth inning, Fordham grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fifth, when Tommy McAndrews singled home Mason Dean.
  • The Rams added to the lead with single runs in the sixth and eighth innings on an RBI-double by Joey Donnelly in the sixth and a sacrifice fly by Young in the eighth.
  • Dayton got within one, 5-4, in the ninth inning on a two-run home run with one out, but Aric Berg struck out the final two batters to secure the victory.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Berg recorded his team-best fifth save of the season for the Rams, while Declan Cawley earned his first collegiate win, pitching two scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts.
  • Robbie Stewart also recorded two scoreless innings with three strikeouts for Fordham.
  • Ocko finished 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored, while Mason Dean had two hits and a run scored.
  • Donnelly and Young each had a hit and two RBI.

  • The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Tuesday, April 7th, when the Rams host Manhattan at Houlihan Park, beginning at 3:00 PM.
