Amy Van Hoven has made an immediate impact for the 2014 Regular Season Champs. Canessa, a Wall, N.J., native, hits in the lead-off spot for the Rams, batting .317 and leading the Atlantic 10 with 47 runs scored on the year. Van Hoven, who hits right behind Canessa at the top of the order, has been playing unconscious as of late, hitting .491 in conference play to raise her season average to .367. She also leads the Rams in total hits with 55.
In addition to landing a spot on the All-Conference First Team, Canessa and Van Hoven were also named to the All-Rookie Team.
Lombardo, a First Team All-Conference selection in 2013, finds a spot on the Academic All-Conference team after finishing the regular season ranked third on the team in home runs (8) and RBIs (32). The Pompton Plains, N.J., native is one of five Rams currently hitting above the .300 mark and has flashed some impressive leather at the hot corner, sporting a .973 fielding percentage.
The Rams will kick off play at the Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday at noon, taking on the winner of Wednesday's tilt between Dayton and UMass.
